Saving a Document

Saving a Document to Your Computer

OnlinePad allows you to save your work directly to your local device. We support saving as a plain text file (.txt) or as a PDF document (.pdf).

Option 1: Save as Text (.txt)

This option downloads your note as a standard text file, which can be opened with any text editor (Notepad, TextEdit, etc.).

  1. Finish writing or editing your note in the main editor window.
  2. Locate the toolbar at the top of the editor.
  3. Click the Save button (usually represented by a floppy disk icon).
  4. Your browser will prompt you to download the file, typically named untitled.txt by default.

Option 2: Save as PDF (.pdf)

If you need a purely visual copy of your document that cannot be easily edited, you can save it as a PDF.

  1. Click the Print icon in the toolbar, or press Ctrl + P (Windows) /Cmd + P (Mac).
  2. In the print dialog window that appears, look for the "Destination" or "Printer" option.
  3. Select Save as PDF from the dropdown menu.
  4. Click Save and choose a location on your computer.
Pro Tip: We recommend saving your work frequently to avoid data loss in case of browser crashes or power outages, even though OnlinePad has an autosave feature.
